Africa Again!

DAY ONE in the wild with wildlife photographer @hector_astorga_photography and I can’t imagine a more wonderfully wild way to begin this African adventure.

Today’s favorite find? The reticulated giraffe—found in only a few places on Earth—including Samburu, Kenya.

Here’s the DYK info for those who love fun facts:
• Calves stand 6 feet tall at birth and walk within an hour.
• Their 18-inch dark tongues help strip thorny leaves—and avoid sunburn!
• Moms form nurseries, watched over by one protective female.
• Males reach 18 feet, females 15—and like us, they have just seven neck vertebrae!

Stay tuned if you love safaris but aren't crazy about the travel time getting here!
